Mid 20th Century Danish School - 'Green Landscape and Grey Clouds' - Signed Horup - Oil on Canvas c1955

We have for your consideration a Stunning, original mid-century oil on canvas by sought after Danish artist Knud Horup (1926-1973). In the original grey-colored wood frame with white colored liner. Signed ‘Horup' on the front lower left (Very faint please see the photos). 

Knud Ejnar Horup was born on 22 May 1926. He was a Danish painter best known for his modernist approach to Scandinavian landscapes settings.

Knud Ejnar Horup was born on May 22nd of 1926. He was a Danish painter best known for his modernist approach to Scandinavian landscapes settings. Horup attended the Århus Tekniske Skole (Technical School) in Århus and then the Hovedskous School of Painting (Hovedskous målarskola) in Gothenburg. Horup's solo exhibitions were well-received by both critics and collectors. Horup's group exhibitions include Ung Kunst (Young Art) in Århus (1951) and the annual Artist's Autumn Exhibition (Kunstnernes Efterårsudstilling) held at the Charlottenborg Palace in Copenhagen in 1952 and 1953. The Danish artists association's Den Frie Udstilling (The Free Exhibition) held annually at Østerbrogade, Copenhagen in 1952. In 1955 Horup exhibited at the newly restored Aalborghallen in Aalborg, Denmark and in 1956 he was invited to exhibit at the Exhibition of Danish Crafts and Crafts (Den Permanente) in the Vesterbrogade district of Copenhagen.

Knud Horup passed away in 1973 at the age of 47
